A vital stretch of the Mount Isa-Duchess Road in Cloncurry Shire Council, Queensland is set for a major upgrade.

Approximately 25 kilometres of the road will be sealed, improving all-weather access and strengthening resilience against flooding and severe weather. The upgrade will support local communities, as well as mining and farming industries, by helping keep people, goods and services moving during disasters.

This project will be delivered under the Queensland Resilience and Risk Reduction Program, with funding through the Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.

State and territory governments are best placed to identify the type and level of assistance their communities need following a disaster. This is part of their responsibility for disaster and emergency management. The National Emergency Management Agency is here to support the states and territories deliver that assistance.
