Disaster recovery
Responding to a disaster can put significant financial pressure on a state or territory government. To help, the Government provides funding to assist with relief and recovery costs. We then manage these relief and recovery programs and initiatives that the funding pays for.

Disaster recovery payments
Financial help including the Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP) and Disaster Recovery Allowance (DRA) are available to support Australians after disasters. Find out more about whether you’re eligible for this disaster support and how to claim.

2019–20 Black Summer bushfires
In 2021 the Black Summer Bushfire Recovery (BSBR) Grants Program provided $390 million to support recovery projects in areas that were disaster declared by states and territories under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
