What is a resource?
A resource provides information on measures that can improve the resilience of households during a disaster or adverse weather event.
A Guide to retrofit your home for better protection from a bushfire
The Guide was developed by VBA and Country Fire Authority (CFA). It provides practical advice to homeowners on upgrading their existing homes to be better protected from bushfires.
The guide is divided into two parts:
- retrofit for generic ember protection
- retrofit protection for various Bushfire Attack Levels (BAL).
This retrofit guide only applies to homes up to BAL 29. (BAL 40 and BAL FZ are considered to be very high to extreme bushfire risk, and therefore, homes in these categories are not usually suitable for retrofit upgrades.) Note this Guide refers to a superseded version of AS3959. Some recommendations are still valid but need to be checked against the current version of the standard.
